Alex is responsible for designing and managing national and international social projects to improve the lives of vulnerable children and youth for a fairer and more inclusive society, through Sport, Health and Well-being, and Education and Prevention of Violence. Educated in physical activity and sport, Alex has 13 years of progressive experience in all areas of sport for development since joining Barça in 2011:
- Started as an Educator of children in dire situations in challenging neighborhoods in the Catalonia region.
- Continued as Head-Coach, coordinating different socio-educational projects, using the Barca’s own methodology SportNet, which enables children and youth development and social inclusion through games, physical activity and sport.
- Became one of the SportNet methodology experts in the Foundation, responsible for creating and reviewing its educational content and to supervise its application in the different Barca projects. As the main SportNet trainer of trainers and has delivered training sessions in over 20 countries to over 1000 people.
- Currently responsible for international projects working with diverse target groups/beneficiaries, contexts, and objectives: inclusion and diversity through sport for children with disabilities in Japan; sport access and emotional well-being of refugees in Greece, Uganda, Türkiye and Malaysia; and social reintegration of the inmates in the youth penitentiary center of Catalonia, as part of the One Team project in Barcelona.
